Rode Saturday, raced Sunday (and worked the race the whole day) and rode Monday. Plus spending a lot of family time so I haven’t had a great chance to update since Friday.
Saturday morning I headed out just about 90 minutes at a moderate pace nothing exciting. Didn’t want to kill myself as I was going to race on Sunday. Managed to keep a nice, fairly easy, pace. Mostly in the endurance and tempo zones. That’s good for me. I usually got too hard on days when I shouldn’t! Here’s the ride…
27.6 miles, 1:32:19, 1206 ft ascent, 189 watts avg power, 148 bpm avg hr, 1133 calories. CTL 61, TSB -15
Sunday was race day. I’ll post a separate race report later. Let’s just say that I was in the sun all day racing and working the race. Got hot, a little sunburned and had a great time!
Monday I figured I had to get out for a ride just because I didn’t have to go to work. It would have been a shame to waste such a beautiful free day! My neighbor down the street, Tony, wanted to go out too so we went together. It ended up being a lot of fun. The fact that Tony was along for the ride really helped me keep a nice semi-easy pace which is what I needed as my legs were just a little sore from Sunday. Plus it made the ride a lot more enjoyable and instructional. Tony is an experienced racer, though he hasn’t raced for several years. However, his knowledge is still there and it’s awesome getting some free pointers as we ride.
I did a lot of work pulling us along on this ride (which I enjoyed immensely) and Tony had trouble keeping up with me on some of the longer climbs. However, even though this was only his third substantial ride of the year (he’s busy with family stuff most weekends) he was still able to make me hurt when he powered up some of the short punchy climbs. I have no doubt that if he even half seriously started a training plan on the bike he would be dropping me all over the place. And who knows, that may happen. He expressed an interest in possibly racing in the Wednesday night Nashville Cyclist Crits later this summer. Ruh Roh!
Here’s the ride…
35.48 miles, 1:59:50, 1784 ft ascent, 192 watts avg power, 149 bpm avg hr, 1499 calories. CTL 65, TSB, -28.
So, it’s good to see the CTL starting to climb a little again after having a bad May. Doctor appointment on Friday to address the issues I was having in May (which seem to have mostly just disappeared) and also a bike fit on Friday morning. Hopefully it will make me faster!
Race tonight again. Leah is going with me. Should be fun!
